Yeeeeeeehaw. Nowhere else do food and booze (and music) come together as well as they do in Austin, where the line between bar and restaurant is often deliciously blurry. There’s also an incredible late-night dining scene, as tipsy diners seek out food trucks, pizza joints, and sceney restaurants alike in search of something tasty to soak it all up. And don’t worry, there’s always breakfast tacos the next day. So have another!

WHERE TO STAY

Kimpton Hotel Van Zandt: In the Rainey Street district, a Texas charmer and your front-row seat to all the action. Launderette: You guessed it, a once coin-operated laundromat is now a stylish and playful dining spot. With a large patio, a menu with a wide range of shareable plates, and one of the best wine and cocktail menus in ATX, you cannot go wrong with brunching here.

Banger’s: A Rainey Street favorite that is not too rowdy, not too laid back, just a good old fashioned time. A beer garden with over 100 beers on tap, a ton of outdoor seating, live music, and 30 house-made sausages.

Dinner

Grizzeldas: Mexico City vibes at this adorable Tex-Mex restaurant in East Austin is perfect for a bachelorette party! It’s so cute and pink their famous queso and margaritas are not to be missed.

Red Ash Italia: Big, bold Italian dishes are served up at this industrial-chic Downtown space with a central bar and concrete, graffitied walls.

Sway Thai: A very fun and excellent spot for Thai food. It’s a lively place during peak dinner hours with plenty of large tables both indoor and on the patio. Sway offers multiple set menus to avoid any awkward conversations over splitting the check with a large group. There are three locations so make sure you pick the one closest to your location!

WHERE TO DRINK

West 6th Street: Trendy bars with a more mature crowd. Lots of dancing, music, and cocktails can be found here. Check out Dogwood, dance at The Ranch, Parlor, and Yard, Buford’s, and Star Bar – the original West 6th bar with a relaxed vibe, giant jenga, and two outdoor patios.

Rainey Street: A must-see for its adorable, neighborhood-y street, with craftsman houses that are actually bars, string-light covered patios, food trucks, craft cocktails, and a constant stream of locals and non-locals looking to party.

The infamous Dirty 6th: The infamous Dirty 6th: The infamous “Dirty 6th.” Re -live your college days on Dirty 6th with a TON of bars and a very mixed crowd. If you go to Dirty 6th, make sure to stop by Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar but check-in your shyness at the door. Also, add Esther’s Follies to your itinerary for some Vegas-style magic and sharp, witty comedy.

East Austin: Over the past few years, East Austin has become the coolest place to drink in town which is being called, “the incubator of hipster.” Full of great bars, restaurants, live music, and more. Stop by Kitty Cohen’s, an outdoor patio with pink flamingo wallpaper, Central Machine Works for a brewery/beer hall feel, and Lustre Pearl East for a house party feel.

Pedal Bike Bar Crawl: Pedal from one bar to the next while dancing and singing away with your besties. You can even BYOB for the rides in between the bars! Choose between Pubcrawler of Austin, Hipside Peddler, or Austin Bar Bike.

All abroad on Lake Travis: If a party on the water is what you’re looking for, boating on Lake Travis is a must! Every weekend, from spring to fall, boats on Lake Travis dock in an area called Devil’s Cove. Devil’s Cove host’s Lake Travis biggest on-the-water party. 200+ boats anchor and tie-up together so everyone in the cove can drink and essentially have one big day party. Grab a Texas Tea at Cain & Abels on the Lake beforehand.

Paddle Board & Kayak on Lake Austin: If your group is looking for a more active Austin adventure, head to Lake Austin and experience the most popular place to stand up paddleboard and kayak right in the heart of the city. The Rowing Dock can accommodate group reservations so definitely contact them beforehand.

Take a Dip at Barton Springs Pool: The Texas heat is no joke so enjoy a refreshing swim at the iconic Barton Springs. Barton Springs, a swimming pool filled entirely with water from nearby natural springs, is a great place to sunbathe and mingle with friends. FYI: Don’t bring alcohol in as they do check when you enter.

Enjoy the Views at Mount Bonnell: The highest point in Austin makes it an ideal vista point to take group photos.

Zilker Park: Check out the 360-acre oasis in the heart of downtown which is the site of many festivals.
